what i love about tuesdays

we have been taking tuesdays nights as our date night this winter. we never have had a standing date day, but this winter hubby and i decided to make it a priority to spend some one on one time together. we usually are only gone for an hour or two. we almost always go to Caribou coffee. we aren't gone long enough to feel guilty or pressured to get home. it has been a fun winter and something to look forward to on these blustery michigan winter evenings.

To Learn about Laine's VLCAD status

Laine was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called VLCAD. It is a Fatty Acid Oxidation disorder that was picked up through Expanded Newborn Screening at birth. It is a noncurable yet treatable disorder. When she is sick her body can become metabolically challenged and she usually has to go to the hospital for high sugar IV fluids and lab work. The first year she was admitted 3 times but the last 2 years she has only been admitted once each year. If left untreated babies can have heart, liver and other problems. UPDATE...She had additional testing this last summer and now the doctors have confirmed she is a carrier. We believe she has been healed. God has been so good to us. She also had 2 Strawberry Hemangiomas (Benign Vascular tumors) that grew rapidly during the first year and may need plastic surgery someday but they are healing amazingly well. We thank God for her and all he has done. For more info about VLCAD go to www.FODsupport.org/
